The Institute for Mental Health and Resilience

The Institute for Mental Health and Resilience (IMHR) is a division of the David Lynch Foundation, a 501c3 established in 2005 to bring the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation technique to vulnerable, often under-resourced adults and children.

IMHR has three main focuses:

1SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH: Supporting large-scale, independent, randomized controlled trials to investigate the effectiveness and cost-savings of Transcendental Meditation programs for improving health and well-being, as well for reducing stress and stress-related disorders, such as anxiety, depression, hypertension and heart disease, burnout, PTSD, suicidality, and substance abuse disorder while improving resilience, creativity, problem-solving, energy, and focus.
2PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT: Developing institutional programs for delivering TM to government, business and industry, healthcare, military and veterans, colleges and universities, and other organizations.
3EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY: Advocating on the federal, state, and local levels for support for TM programs for vulnerable populations, including veterans, first responders, adults and teens with substance use disorder, a and women survivors of domestic violence. Also, raising awareness about the benefits of TM through its MEDITATE AMERICA national health initiative, which educates the public about the benefits
